Child & Youth Friendly Saskatoon

The below is a message we were requested to repost on our website:
Greetings:

I am a board member with the charitable organization Child & Youth Friendly Saskatoon. This year, with help from Plan Canada, we will be starting a Speaker’s Bureau in Saskatoon. This program has been running in Toronto for a number of years. With some extra funding that they received, Plan Canada decided to branch out to 5 other communities in Canada and Saskatoon has been selected. We are very excited to be able to work with them on this project.

The Speaker’s Bureau is designed to engage youth between the ages of 14 and 22.  They will meet monthly to discuss social justice issues with a focus on gender equality. We will work to identify and to try to resolve some of the local issues. We are hoping that young people will come out to the meetings to actively engage in the process. The information about the first three meetings is as follows:

DatesThursday, Oct. 12Thursday, Nov. 16; Thursday, Dec. 14

Time:  6:30pm-8:30pm

Where: Aden Bowman Collegiate (corner of Clarence Ave. and Taylor St.)

I have attached a poster for the first meeting.  It would be greatly appreciated if you could post the poster on your website and Facebook page.
Thank you for your assistance.

Temporary 3 way stop at the intersection of Henick Crescent and Henick Lane

The City of Saskatoon Traffic Department has asked HVCA to share the following information in regard to complaints about the recently installed temporary 3 way stop at the intersection of Henick Crescent and Henick Lane.

Because a section of McClocklin Road is currently closed for construction there is an increase in traffic volume at the intersection of Hampton Gate North and Hampton Circle. This increase in traffic volume has led to traffic short-cutting through Henick Crescent and Henick Lane in order to access Hampton Circle.

To help deter traffic from short-cutting through these streets, the city has recently installed a temporary 3 way stop at the intersection of Henick Crescent and Henick Lane. This is a temporary measure and these temporary signs will be removed once the construction work on McClocklin road is completed.

This 3 way stop is NOT a permanent installation.

Thanks for your patience while McClocklin Road is improved.

Please also note… A representative from the city traffic department will be in attendance at the HVCA Annual General Meeting on Wednesday, October 11 to answer questions about traffic concerns.

McClocklin Road Closure

Beginning this Monday, McClocklin Road between Claypool Drive and East Hampton Boulevard/Richardson Road will be closing for approximately 8-10 weeks in order for developers to undertake the installation of utilities and road re-construction. Road users looking to access Claypool Drive, will be detoured via Hampton Gate during construction.

Also of note, there are currently lane restrictions in effect on Claypool Drive from McClocklin Road to Hampton Gate due to gas line maintenance. These restrictions are expected to end on September 8, 2017.

The closure of McClocklin Road is necessary to accommodate the continued development of Hampton Village. Please visit saskatoon.ca/betterroads for more information about 2017 construction in Saskatoon.
